Six Stills

I have watched six music videos and chosen my favourite shots from them. The first music video I chose was Soul To Squeeze by the beloved Red Hot Chili Peppers. The shot I chose was of the lead singer, Anthony Kiedis, singing with a load of snakes on his head. I chose this shot because it's such an interesting shot. It's a mid-shot of Kiedis singing the first line of Soul To Squeeze but he just looks so relaxed even though he has a load of snakes slithering round his head.

The next video I chose was "Headbutt" by The King Blues. The shot I chose was a close up of the lead singer, Johnny "Itch" Fox, standing on the rooftop of a building singing the song quite aggressively because they are an aggressive band. The camera is focused on Johnny Fox but he standing slightly on the right so you can see the rest of the band in the background. Fantastic song.

The third video I chose was completely different to the previous two. I chose "Express Yourself" by N.W.A for my third choice. The particular shot that I chose from this video is right at the beginning when the singing first comes in. At this point the members of N.W.A are bursting through a massive piece of paper and coming into the video. The reason I chose this video is because it's quite sudden and it's a really good piece of quick editing. The song is so Old Skool and should be loved by all.

The fourth video I chose was another Red Hot Chili Peppers video. This time I chose the song "Can't Stop" from the "By The Way" album (Track 7). The reason I chose this particular shot was because the camera does something really interesting at the beginning during the introduction. Anthony Kiedis has his head at the end of a really long yellow tube/pipe. The camera follows the tube through and then it reaches Kiedis' head as it goes into the main guitar riff of the song. An RHCP Classic.

The fifth video I chose was another King Blues song. This time I chose "I Got Love" from the album "Save The World, Get The Girl". The shot is of the band playing in the middle of somewhere that looks perhaps like a London suburb. It shows mainly the lead singer, Johnny Fox, in the shot who also plays Ukulele in the band but also in the shot is the lead guitarist, Jamie Jazz, playing guitar. One of the best songs of the Save The World, get The Girl album.

The final song I chose was Cascada - Because The Night (Originally by The Patti Smith Group). The shot I chose was a really high angle camera shot of the crowd at one of Cascada's concert. The light shines on the crowd and you can see just how far away the camera actually is from the crowd yet the frame is just filled with people from the crowd. I chose this shot because of the camera angle.
